Nursing Unit Manager (RN) Overview:

The Nursing Unit Manager (RN) is responsible for overseeing the nursing staff and coordinating nursing activities during their scheduled shifts. This role ensures that patient care is safe, effective, and aligns with the facility's policies and objectives. The Nursing Unit Manager (RN) also maintains effective communication with other shifts to guarantee continuity of care and assumes charge in the absence of the Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) and the Director of Nursing.

Key Responsibilities:

• Interpreting facility policies and state regulations related to nursing services.
• Participating in safety protocols and initiatives.
• Keeping the ADON informed about nursing operations, needs, challenges, and unusual occurrences.
• Recommending necessary supplies and equipment for nursing services.
• Conducting routine checks on staff performance, timekeeping, equipment, and supplies.
• Making staffing recommendations, including hiring, promotions, suspensions, and terminations.
• Assisting in the development of in-service training programs and evaluating their effectiveness.
• Investigating and addressing complaints.
• Overseeing daily duties on the floor in the absence of the charge nurse or assistant charge nurse.
