The role of a Registered Nurse involves the application of the healing and science of professional nursing to provide compassionate care to patients. You will be responsible for utilizing the nursing process to assess, diagnose, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care in conjunction with interdisciplinary teams, family members, and support systems.

Job Description

Essential Functions:

Utilizes the ANA Nursing Process (2010) to perform the following functions:

  • Gleans an in-depth and comprehensive understanding of the healthcare user's health status and the situation at hand.
  • Determining the diagnosis or issues requires a comprehensive evaluation of the collected assessment data.
  • Identifying possible outcomes from a healthcare plan that is designed to meet the specific needs of the consumer.
  • Plans a program that recommends approaches and options to accomplish envisioned objectives.
  • Carries through the established plan. Monitors the patient's progress to ensure adherence to the plan.
  • Streamlined communication in coordinated care enhances patient outcomes.
  • Health Teaching and Health Promotion involves providing the necessary tools and resources to individuals to effectively promote health and safety.
  • The advanced practice registered nurse and nursing role specialist leverage their expertise to provide consultation services that help shape the existing plan, improve the skills of others, and drive successful outcomes.
  • A vital aspect of project management is to evaluate how far the result meets the expected outcome.

Proficiently uses applicable technology and software to:

  • As a nursing assistant, I assist and record all patient care activities that are performed by the nursing staff.
  • Utilize other work applications that play a key role in being an informed and involved member of the organization such as email, iLearn coursework, employee surveys, benefits, and policy and procedure information.
  • Actively pursues opportunities to improve the delivery of patient care by using clever and original problem-solving techniques.
  • Carry out any supplementary assignments given.

Additional Requirements

Required:

Education - Completion of a nursing education program that is approved by a board of nursing

Certifications - Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification - American Heart Association (AHA); Registered Nurse (RN) - South Dakota Board of Nursing

Preferred:

Experience - 5+ years of Registered Nurse Experience

Education - Bachelors degree in Nursing

Physical Requirements:

This job involves performing physically challenging work on a regular basis. This involves continuously exerting over 25 pounds of force and frequently lifting more than 50 pounds. Occasionally, the employee will face the need to lift objects exceeding 100 pounds of force. Night shifts or occasional irregular hours may be required, and there is potential exposure to radiation and frequent exposure to contaminated needles and infectious body substances.
