Unit counselors will offer support to patients by helping them overcome barriers to treatment and remain engaged in addiction recovery services. They will demonstrate recovery skills, coping strategies, and instill hope in patients during their journey to recovery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and maintain assigned caseloads.
- Conduct weekly individual and group counseling sessions (as assigned).
- Perform clinical assessments and intake when necessary.
- Maintain professional, empathetic, and supportive interactions with patients at all times.
- Communicate regularly with counselors and nursing staff about patient concerns and care.
- Foster positive interactions between patients and staff.
- Ensure patients follow the program's activity schedule.
- Teach daily living skills to patients and support healthy functioning.
- Monitor clients for any behavioral inconsistencies and report them to the appropriate staff (Clinical, Nursing, etc.), including in shift reports.
- Assist a master-level QHP in conducting monthly skills-based workshops related to chemical dependency.
- Help with processing, completing, and distributing incident reports according to agency protocol.
- Support the preparation of weekly case conferences and reviews.
- Aid in the clinical discharge process, ensuring patients receive necessary referrals and discharge information.
- Keep the work environment clean and organized.
- Maintain patient confidentiality at all times in accordance with regulations.
- Ensure patients meet with nursing staff upon discharge.
- Help de-escalate patients in behavioral distress.
- Serve as a role model for both patients and colleagues.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Valid CASAC-T certificate (CASAC-T only)
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Availability to work shifts from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM or 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM (Weekdays and Weekends)
