Unit counselors will assist patients by breaking down obstacles to treatment and keeping them engaged in their addiction recovery journey. You'll model positive recovery behaviors, teach essential coping skills, and encourage patients to stay hopeful during their rehabilitation.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage patient caseloads.
- Provide weekly individual and group counseling sessions.
- Perform clinical assessments and intake processes as needed.
- Engage with patients in a professional and compassionate manner at all times.
- Collaborate with nursing and counseling staff to address patient concerns and ensure smooth care delivery.
- Promote positive communication between staff and patients.
- Ensure that patients adhere to the program's scheduled activities.
- Teach patients healthy daily living skills and monitor their well-being.
- Identify and report patient behavioral changes to relevant staff members and include these observations in shift reports.
- Help facilitate monthly workshops focused on skills related to chemical dependency, under the supervision of a master-level QHP.
- Assist with the completion and processing of incident reports in accordance with agency policies.
- Support weekly case conferences and patient case reviews.
- Assist in the clinical discharge process, ensuring that patients receive all necessary referrals and discharge materials.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work environment.
- Protect patient confidentiality as required by law.
- Ensure patients meet with nursing staff before discharge.
- Help de-escalate patients experiencing behavioral difficulties.
- Be a positive role model for both patients and fellow staff.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors.
Required Qualifications:
- Current CASAC-T certification (CASAC-T only)
- High school diploma or GED
- Available for shifts from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM or 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM (including weekends)
